Amy is relatively new to GuloGulo, although she has been a big supporter from day one. (She put us on VisitFtCollins.com and has facilitated a 1st Tuesday Writing Prompts) Originally from Minnesota, Amy came to Fort Collins last year to work at Lory State Park as a conservationist. “Don’t feed the wildlife,” she says. Her podcast is Super Natural Park, and her book, From Big Lakes To Big Mountains, is available at Old Firehouse Books.
GuloGulo: What is it you like about writing?
Amy: I hold on to writing to keep me sane, to make me more myself, to better my day, and to keep me present in the moment.
GuloGulo: When did you notice writing helped?
Amy: I try to be an adult with adult responsibilities, but I also forgot to have fun. Writing made me happy when I was younger, so I try to remember that.
GuloGulo: What brought you to Fort Collins?
Amy: It was time for an adventure! There are tiny little things that happen which lead to greater moments.
GuloGulo: Why is conservation important?
Amy: We have an effect on the Earth. You don’t have to do anything major to make a positive impact. Just be yourself but more self-aware, and stay informed with real science.
GuloGulo: If you could be any plant or animal, what would you be?
Amy: Oh, hahah. I would be a seal pup. They’re just big fat shapes; their skin jiggles.
