Eden is an early comrade of GuloGulo. She performed at our open mics when all we had was the open mic! Once Eden graduated last May from CSU with a creative writing degree, she moved to Denver to be a 4th grade literary educator and to live surrounded by history and old marble buildings and arches.

GuloGulo: Could you describe your poetry style?

Eden: I’m mostly into visual poems – projective poems – poetry that messes with the space on the page; where the white space is just as important as the words.

GuloGulo: What inspires you to write poetry?

Eden: In 3rd grade, ironically the same unit I’m teaching now, I found writing to be a better form of self-expression. And then later in high school, the album 10 Day by Chance the Rapper, really got me wanting to write a lot more.

GuloGulo: How does being a teacher help you think more critically?

Eden: Conflict resolution. There can be so much drama between kids but they can still make it work. I help them get through the trauma.

GuloGulo: What do you miss most about Fort Collins?

Eden: I miss the foothills and all the pretty hikes that were so close to me.

GuloGulo: Do you believe in aliens?

Eden: There definitely has to be aliens out there – maybe not physically but perhaps in a 4th or 5th dimension; maybe they’re reaching out to us and we’re unable to receive their messages.
