Maggy Mae has been coming to GuloGulo for a long time now and her poetic confidence has only grown! Some of you got your hair cut by her at the November Fundrasier, and some of you may visit her barber chair more often, but whenever Maggy is around she’s got on a big smile and a fun poem that makes you think.
GuloGulo: What got you into writing?
Maggy Mae: I write to process my emotions; as a gateway for clearity.
GuloGulo: And why poetry?
Maggy Mae: In poetry I can connect with the divine being, a spirit that guides me and responds to me through poetry.
GuloGulo: How long have you been writing?
Maggy Mae: Poetry has helped me process difficult circumstances off-and-on for 14 years.
GuloGulo: What do you see yourself writing in the future?
Maggy Mae: Positivity and hopefulness that everything will be okay.
GuloGulo: What’s a crazy thing that’s happend at your hair salon?
Maggy Mae: One time the guard fell off my clippers and I went in with a zero… I had to blend it.
Maggy Mae!
