Jo Kennedy is a third year student at CSU studying Creative Writing with a focus on Poetry. She’s originally from Dallas, Texas but has moved around a lot in Wyoming and Colorado. In December 2023 she stumbled into a GuloGulo poetry open mic and was excited to find “a community supported place where young poets could perform.” She has performed many times since. 

GuloGulo: Why did you start writing poetry?

Jo: I never really started. Poetry has just always been second nature to me.

GuloGulo: What do you like about writing?

Jo: I find it easy to put thoughts into words – to think through things.

GuloGulo: How does inspiration come to you?

Jo: I am inspired by the mundane.

GuloGulo: Where do you think writing will take you?

Jo: Hopefully big! I hope it takes me to places where I can make meaningful connections with people.

GuloGulo: What is your favorite dinosaur?

Jo: Brachiosaurus. I love their long necks!
