SUMMARY:3rd Tuesday: Open Mic & July Feature
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the monthly culmination of the “Journey of the Poem.” The evening begins with an immersive workshop at 4 pm\, hosted this month by featured poet venus indigo. Later\, the energy shifts to our community open mic at 6 pm\, a supportive space to share your own work. From first-time readers to seasoned performers\, all are welcome to take the stage and celebrate the diverse voices of our collective. venus will perform a set halfway through! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout venus\n\n\n\nvenus indigo is a poet\, dancer\, and seeker whose chosen name carries its own cosmology. The lowercase v is intentional: the planet deserves the capital. Named for the astrological attributes of love\, beauty\, justice\, and creativity\, and for indigo\, the color of the third eye chakra and one ring of every temporary rainbow\, venus moves through the world in deliberate relationship with forces beyond the human family. Queer and gender dysphoric\, venus has lived across cornfield towns\, skyscraper cities\, and high desert\, finding community circles in each place that have seeded the garden of their consciousness. They write because they love it\, and because they want their work to\, in their own words\, “f*ck with the Mind\, and dance with the Heart.” Their motto for this revolution around the Sun: fierce and fabulous. \n\n\n\nAbout venus’ 4 pm Workshop\n\n\n\nFrom venus: “With my workshop\, i want to inspire People who like to write; to empower People to create language for experience that we can relate to; to challenge the way People engage creative choices.”
